Katharina’s new audiovisual composition Der Spiegel sinkt. (Speilet synker.) which she develops during an artist residency at Lademoen Kunsternverksteder in Trondheim/ Norway, is inspired by the poetry bundle Delta by the Norwegian author Marte Huke (German translation by Betty Wahl and Uwe Englert). Huke’s poems are based on natural geographical descriptions on the one hand, while on the other hand they bring the forces of nature within and between people to life. Following the example of literature, the new composition aims to reflect this special mixture and connection in musical imagery. Feelings such as fear of loss (of loved ones and the glacier/nature), threat, and (longing for) security find their place in the audiovisual landscape of Der Spiegel sinkt.
The world is in a process of becoming and passing away, writes Andreas Reckwitz. Some things repeat themselves, something is constantly being created, something is constantly disappearing. This already applies to the natural world. And it also applies to the social world.

In her new work, Katharina explores the phenomenon of cognitive poetics. She examines how literary devices and their cognitive and affective perception can serve as a source of inspiration in an audiovisual and performative composition.

Katharina’s artist residency at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder is kindly supported by a Residenzstipendium by the Federal Ministry of Culture Vienna.
